Thank you to everyone who participated in some fashion in Winter Field Day! You are much appreciated! It was a wonderful ham radio experience! We will update with the numbers of contacts and etc. later.
WINTER FIELD DAY:
Date: Saturday, January 27th & Sunday, January 28th, 2018
Time: 10:00 am – SETUP
2:00 pm – ON THE AIR
Place: 1808 Ratchford Dr Dallas NC (across from the 321 Flea Market)
Contact: NC0G (George Poteat) for more information about the event
Since all of our operations will be conducted inside the club camper/trailer, we will have 2 stations running (depending on weather conditions and the number of active operators that sign up). Ideally, there will be 2 operators per station.
We will have limited space inside the camper, so I will setup an Operator Schedule on 3 hour increments.
There will be no need to tow the trailer to a location. The trailer is already setup in the Poteat field, but help with antenna and rig setup will be needed at 10 am. Winter Field Day will begin officially at 2 pm on Saturday Jan 27th.

As with all outdoor events, we have to eat well and be comfortable. NC0G will fire up the smoker and smoke a pork butt and we will get hotdogs grilled on the BBQ. Below is a list of additional items needed to make this event a success.
specialty side items (cook’s choice)
sweet tea/unsweetened tea
dessert (cookies, cake, pie)
gas for generator
PLEASE EMAIL WITH ANY SUPPLY ITEMS YOU CAN DONATE
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
January 27 and 28, 2018
This is our second Winter Field Day! Similar to Summer Field Day (but perhaps, colder), Winter Field Day is a two-day operating event, outside, in the field, to promote amateur radio portable deployment competency, fellowship and fun. Emergencies don’t always happen in good weather, so this event could help all those involved learn to operate in all-weather conditions.
Thanks to George Poteat, NC0G, we are going to have it in a field on his property. We will set up the GCARS/ARES Command Trailer (a very nice camper)and operate inside of it, with, perhaps a tent outside for solar/hardcore outdoor operating. We plan to have at least two (2) HF stations (digital/CW and phone). Hopefully, we will have BBQ, hot dogs and hamburgers and a pot-luck style meal.
Set up is at 10 a. m., Saturday, January 27, 2018, cleanup on Sunday, January 28, at 2 p.m. If you are not a member of GCARS/GAARC/ARES/RACES and are interested in attending, please email Chantel.
